Residential

Residential

Southdown’s residential programs provide the highest level of care available for ordained clergy, women and men religious, and lay pastoral ministers.

Our deep understanding of the unique challenges and issues encountered by our residents has developed over many years since we first began in 1966. Our compassionate and highly qualified clinical team combines this understanding with an evidence-based, goal-oriented approach to ensure the best possible outcome for each individual resident.

Admissions

Admission to our residential programs requires a referral from a diocesan personnel representative, community leadership, a vocation or formation personnel representative, or their designee.

An individual may self-refer to our residential programs with the support of one of the representatives mentioned above.

14-Week Residential Program with Continuing Care

Southdown’s 14-week residential treatment program is holistic and goal-oriented, based on state-of-the-art practices in the healing professions, research conducted in our own clinical setting, and the optimal length of stay for residential care.

Residents focus on treatment goals identified during the assessment, work to address the issues, and collaborate with their diocese or congregation to plan for a smooth transition to life after residence.

They are accompanied by our experienced and professionally trained clinical team, which includes psychologists, psychotherapists, psychiatrists, registered nurses, spiritual directors, an art psychotherapist, fitness instructor, registered massage therapist, and a dietitian. This reflects our integrated model of healing, emphasizing the interconnection between the spiritual, emotional, and physical aspects of well-being.

Continuing Care is an integral part of Southdown’s 14-week residential program. This follow-up program provides crucial support for 18 months to both the individual and diocesan or community leadership during the critical period following residential treatment. Southdown’s Continuing Care program is delivered virtually through a secure, encrypted video conference platform.

Individualized Short-Term Residential Program

Southdown offers an individualized short-term residential program for eligible individuals who are seeking to restore, refresh, and build on gains made in prior treatment experiences.

Each resident is provided with the opportunity to engage in specific treatment modalities as part of a goal-oriented treatment plan, tailored to meet the needs of the individual.
