Individual Psychotherapy & Counselling

Southdown provides individual psychotherapy or counselling to those experiencing mental health distress, including anxiety, depression, trauma, addiction issues, or situational crisis. Appointments may be scheduled on a weekly, bi-weekly, or monthly basis, according to individual needs.

Individual outpatient supportive counselling or psychotherapy includes:

  • A standardized initial telephone intake to clarify the reason(s) for contact and to determine eligibility for the service
  • A review of informed consent, confidentiality, and limits of confidentiality
  • 50-minute in person or virtual sessions with a psychologist or psychotherapist

Southdown’s Psychotherapy and Counselling team is comprised of licensed Psychologists, Psychotherapists and Social workers. Most appointments are available in English, French and Spanish.

Spiritual Direction

Southdown provides spiritual direction to all adults seeking faith and spiritual growth. Spiritual direction is a ministry of sacred companioning that aims to nurture growth toward inward reflection.

This accompaniment invites the individual to attend to the presence of the Mystery in the experiences of pain and suffering.

It is a space for gentle listening, contemplation of God, and an opening into a lived expression of that relationship with all of life.

Appointments may be scheduled on a weekly, bi-weekly, or monthly basis, according to individual needs.

Southdown’s Spiritual Direction team is comprised of trained spiritual directors. Southdown currently offers this program in English, Spanish and Filipino.
