Marc Simpson, BSW, MSW, RSW
Clinical Director
Marc holds a Master of Social Work from Laurentian University and is a Registered Social Worker in the Province of Ontario. Marc provides client services within the residential and outpatient programs, and is part of the assessment team. He brings extensive training and clinical experience in the areas of addiction and concurrent disorders, trauma and mental health concerns, cognitive-behavioral therapy, dialectical behavior therapy, narrative therapy, and systems therapy. As Clinical Director, Marc is responsible for providing clinical leadership, and program and policy development for the assessment, residential and outpatient treatment programs. He provides administrative and professional supervision to several members of the clinical team. Additionally, he engages in program evaluation activities, and ensures that Southdown maintains quality assurance and quality improvement practices. He is passionate about helping people grow and change to live happier lives.
Eran Talitman, PhD, CPsych
Residential Team Leader
Eran Talitman is a licensed psychologist in the province of Ontario. He received his Bachelor of Arts degree from York University and his psychology degrees the University of Ottawa. He provides individual and group psychotherapy to clergy and vowed religious who are in Southdown’s residential programs. Eran utilizes an integrative approach to psychotherapy that includes emotional processing, cognitive behaviour therapy, mindfulness, and self-compassion. He encourage clients to develop tools and resources so that they can engage in healthy coping strategies. Eran provides psychoeducational seminars and workshops on a variety of topics, including, personality styles/disorders, conflict resolution, effective leadership, and resilience. Eran also provides consultation to church leadership. As Residential Team Leader, Eran provides professional supervision to members of the clinical team, and interns.
Michael Sy, PhD
Religious and Clergy Outpatient Services Team Leader
Michael Sy is licensed to practice in the Province of Ontario and the State of Massachusetts and is registered in both the Canadian and American Register of Health Service Providers in Psychology. He obtained his doctorate from Fordham University in New York City, NY. As Religious and Clergy Outpatient Services Team Leader, Michael provides outpatient therapy and wellness group therapy in the residential program. Michael’s utilizes a Client-Centred Psychodynamic approach in his practice and, through his extensive training in Clinical Neuropsychology, he is able to take a wide perspective in the diagnosis and treatment of clients. Michael’s primary focus is in assessment, clinical neuropsychology, cross-cultural differences, and cognitive behavioural therapy. He also assists religious communities and dioceses with interventions, crisis management and personnel issues. In addition to English, Michael speaks several languages including Filipino (Tagalog), Mandarin and Fukienese.
